Sometimes the delivery kills the message.
I can’t tell you – personally – the message that Fox News delivers, because I can’t stand to listen to or watch it.
I’ve been meditating (regularly) for 12 years – maybe longer. One thing I’ve learned from that practice is that anything that delivers aggressively disturbs my mind, and is not worth my time and energy.
I guess I’ve gotten pretty sensitive. If I walk into a room, even if the TV volume is muted, I often know right away if Fox News is playing. And I want to leave – immediately.
It’s kind of a shame, because I do know this: Fox News broadcasts people talking. And these people really – REALLY – want to be heard. But I’m not hearing them…
When someone gets in my face, I tune it out.
I figure that if they feel they have to brutally accost me with a riot mentality, then I’m probably better off not hearing what they have to say.
And the world – my world – is far better off without that energy.
Our world arises from our minds. What we absorb and pay attention to… that’s what manifests our world.
I want a world filled with thoughtful, considerate, well-researched objective journalism, that presents facts and credits the populace with the intelligence to reach their own conclusions.
I’m happy to consider anyone’s point of view; I just don’t like being bullied, so I refuse to participate.
When it’s all over but the shouting, the shouting tends to drown out the answers. When Fox News stops yelling, I’ll start listening.
Maybe some parents should read tthis and apply it to how they speak to their children. I’m sure they would get better results if the just tone it down a little! Good post and so truue!
I’ve always found that my son responds sooooo much better to respect… [:-)] thank you!

It’s interesting…Last week i saw a beautiful fine couple with a lovely kid. It was a ferry… It seams the father gave the tickets to the ferry to the little girl and she was really upset because she lost it. The interesting thing is that instead of complaining the parents were trying to easy the girl from loosing the tickets and her reaction to it was very mature. She was upset as an adult would be. So nice when parents decide to treat kids with respect. The girls was about seven.
What I love about your comment and Deb’s, is that tomorrow’s post is along the same line/tone, and is about parenting in particular… I’ll be curious to hear what you think of that one! It’s scheduled to post very early… Thank you!
I don’t watch a lot of mainstream news channels so I can’t speak to the violence but I understand. As we age, our hearing is diminished so who knows. lol! I must add that I love all kinds of music and I don’t mind playing my fav songs loud….
Didn’t know you meditate. Welcome to the club. :-)

I have quit watching the news quite sometime back. Actually, I never was a news-person, if you know what I mean. I was always more interested in essays which shed light over different things and various aspects of life.
Must have been five-ish years ago when I started to follow and seek spirituality–very vague term, I know but that’s how I describe this quest–and I’m happy to have pursued this path.
These days, I don’t like TV even if it’s not news that’s being broadcast. I just think of it as white noise in my head. But am hooked to the Internet ;)
Great post Leslee. It gave me food for thought. Thanks for the share.
