Here’s the finished version of the sketch I posted two days ago…
I added color, hoping this will carry the eye about the piece more so that the different components pull together and tell a story.
The eyes open the window to the soul…
They also comprehend and mis-apprehend…
One look into a person’s eyes can reveal a lifetime of emotion, experience, revelation, and connection.
Hope (that’s her in the upper left corner…), even the tiniest hope, can light(en) fresh buds to spring from amidst the wilted refuse of exhausted promise…
(techie note… this is my first – completed – piece with digital watercolor. the ink-work was done by hand with a fountain pen. i think i’m hooked…)
Stunning!!! I love this Leslee and have a request to make of you. Do I have your email? I will look and send you an email. Check your junk mail if you don’t see it It will be from me.
Eliz
Thank you, Eliz! I think I did get your email, sounds wonderful! I’m only online for a few minutes right now, will be back in a couple hours. Thank you friend!
By the way, I have a blog hop going till Wednesday. Do join in. It’s my first one. :-)
Best,
Eliz
How amazing!!! I just love it!!! Nice new brush you got there mrs. Tech….
Hahaha! Thank you, Giuliano! I’m a closet geek who is really way too old to be messing with these toys! Blast the stereotype, right? I’ve just discovered Hatena.com on my brand new Nintendo DSi, and it lets you do little flipbook animations! I may be posting mini-videos soon… You can export the images as GIFs and I can imagine a million ways to overlay that in photoshop… I may never sleep again! Thank you, as always, for stopping by [:-)]
This illustration truly is fantastic, Leslee. It is a perfect depiction of peeking through the “veil” that keeps us from fully engaging and living the frequency that is available to us.
So obviously I like the title “rip in the fabric of illusion”.
Glad you are not falling prey to stereotyping… I look forward to reading more of your posts.
Thanks so much, Amy! Haha, I tried being stereotypical for a while, kept falling on my face… so on to new territory [;-)] There is so much more to share, I’m so glad when it resonates for someone! Thank you.
Wow. This really grabs me.
My name is Tim, and I’ve just completed my 6th album. Looking for album cover ideas, and after seeing this piece, I’m considering this style. Do you have any interest in exploring possibilities for collaboration?
No pressure. Just a fun idea. Thought I’d throw it out there.
Peace,
Tim
Hahaha! I’ve just been looking at your blog, thinking of writing to you about the same! Switching over to email now… Please check out this also (my crude video explorations…) http://www.youtube.com/user/OneRiverConsulting?feature=mhsn#p/u/0/JYTwSWzG3wE and http://www.youtube.com/user/OneRiverConsulting?feature=mhsn#p/u/1/SJMS81PzP4s
I have an abundance of ideas I want to explore, and have been looking for additional music for a month or two… I look forward to communicating more!
Best wishes,
Leslee
I have a beautiful poem in mind which if turned into a drawing could very well be this.
Very nice work, Ms Leslee.
Oh, thank you! I’d love if you would share the poem! (Is it one of your posts that perhaps I missed?)
It’s actually a poem of mine that I have yet to post. It’s pretty long, but once I’ve posted it I’ll let you know ;-)
Thanks, I’ll look forward to seeing it!
Hey Ms Leslee, you might want to check out the poem that reminds me of this drawing of yours :D
It’s the 3rd to the last of my posts, the one that begins with “Hannah”. Sorry if it’s only now that I remember telling you about it.
Thank you so much, so sorry it’s taken me so long to find your comment! I’m heading over that way now, can’t wait!
