Hahahahaha! Scary, eh? They’re actually the shells of larvae (?) of cicada… Here in the South they come up out of the ground and climb trees, and hang out there until they dry out a bit. Then they shed their “shells” (the shells split open along the back, not so apparent in this pic) and get on with cicada life ^_^. These fellows were particularly muddy, and had climbed a pine tree. I think I counted 80+ on this one tree…
What are those? Bedbugs??????? Yikes! :-)
