This week marks a number of anniversaries, and I’ve discovered that certain types of reflection serve no useful purpose.
Sometimes, the deeper we go, the darker it gets.
Sometimes, to find the light, we just need to look away from the mirror.
A simple photograph in a brightly lit room…
whence the darkness?
Step away from the mirror, and all becomes more bright.
A whole new layer of meaning emerges for the word “selflessness”.
Namaste.
Leslee, it is true that in the process of examining oneself, we can get lost in the shadows of our mind, the corridors darken with our thoughts, and the waves of the complex past. We know, that if we can step back and allow the All Pervading Light to illuminate our path and still our minds, we will see things in its true light. A mirror can sometimes only reflect what we want to see….Hmmm, I like that statement, I think I will use it for a post title and continue your thought. :)
Namaste my kindred Spirit
Walter
p.s. call anytime that it is best for you, I am always available.
Thanks, Walter! I have to work late again tonight but will try to call within the next few days – I look forward to talking with you!
What is that contraption? A darkness slayer? The darkness can lead us to the light…if we are not intimidated by it… :-)
Hahaha, you are so right, Elizabeth! It’s just a hand mirror, held up to a wall mirror… I envisioned a quick photo of infinite reflections, yet it seemed that no matter what angle I held the small mirror at, that dark tunnel kept appearing! It’s really quite uncanny and really gives me pause to consider… It seems appropriate right now, as many things seem to be unpeeling and uncovering in very unexpected ways. I’m enjoying it quite a bit, when I’m not virtually overwhelmed by confusion!
“Step away from the mirror, and all becomes more bright.”?
Couldn’t have said it better myself…
thank you, imogen!
Like I… I read it four times:)
Aw, thank you! When I was taking the picture I kept looking for where the darkness was coming from, and I never could really figure it out… It seemed such am appropriate analogy for some things I was working through at the time. I’m glad it gave you something!
