All right, Post A Day friends, let’s go diving!
Actually, I first wished to be an “Injun” and live off of nuts and berries in the wild; forget the Cowboys (well, until I saw my first Clint Eastwood Western, but that’s another story)…
Then, I read some Norse mythology and aspired vigorously to Viking-hood… But the gender issue presented itself pretty quickly, not to mention the dilemma of bringing historical figures into the present…
I finally settled, quietly and for some time, on the fantasy of plunging into azure depths as a photographer for Jacques Cousteau. I didn’t want be Jacques Couteau, I just wanted to dive in, swim around, and record visions of incredible things that live in another world. I wanted to observe, record, and simply enjoy.
How ironic… after so many years of believing I was doing other things, I now realize that I am living my dream come true…
Can you tell that green block is a diving board, and I’m going in again?
Thank you for joining me! Come on in, the water is perfect!
Haaa Love this post….. I wanted to be a scuba diver hung out at the pier when the boats would come in I’d talk to everyone about their experiences. Then I started drawing the boats, and voila, I am an artist! Oh how it all falls together so naturally.
Thank you, Deb! And your words are so true… We moved away from the coast when I was still young… How I still love to go back there!
I wanted to be a ton of different stuff as a kid. A scientist, a history teacher, a minister, a biology teacher, and about half a dozen more things I’m too tired to remember right now haha
Now i want to be a writer when I grow up, haha. But Bio teacher or scientist are still in the cards too =P
Hahaha, Andrew, I bet you’ll find a way to roll it all into one! Cheers!
Yep, you have met your calling… I like that painting and no, I didn’t know it was a diving board. :-)
Thank you, Elizabeth! I’ve had so many dreams about diving into beautiful pools… Have a wonderful weekend!
Well Leslee, I will certainly dive in and join you in the depths that reflect our childhood …. If I could remember!! :)
My childhood dreams? All I can think of is that I always wanted to be an artist.
Walter
Oh, Walter, art so pervades your being! I cannot imagine you being anything else, aside from a beautiful spirit! Yet I’m sure you bring that kindness and insight to your other work, too.
Hey Leslee!
I didn’t really have many thoughts on what I wanted to be when I grew up except for when I became a competitive gymnast, I just knew that I would eventually become a gymnastics coach. Things went a little differently though.
Hi, Kimmie! Thank you so much for stopping by! I know what you mean about things going differently… One thing that’s been reassuring for me to learn this year is that our Guidance always has a Plan B (and C, and D, etc…) no matter what happens, we always get another chance. Here’s wishing that all your surprises may be wonderful!
Yes, and isn’t that a comforting thought! :)
