During my walk this morning, taking pics of nearby Shoal Creek, I thought I saw a ghost move across the lens!
I snapped wildly as the specter floated about, but I was unable to see anything with my naked eyes…
I kept watching, annoyed by the mosquitoes that just wouldn’t leave me alone while I was trying to capture my ghosts!!!
Oh.
(clears throat)…
I guess since I’ve seen how dust motes can cause “angel-orbs”, it only makes sense that skeeters can cause “demon-shades”…

I parked in the shade… How nice to find a cool spot near nature, on the way to the wifi café… I stepped out of the car and onto the sidewalk…
Stopped in my tracks by that unmistakable scent…
Whenever I see these trees in bloom (we called them “mimosas”, but I’m pretty sure that’s not what an arborist would call them…), I slip back to early summer days in the South…
Rounding up the neighborhood pals… Finding some old cardboard boxes to flatten… And sledding down the red dirt hill, dodging sapling pines…
The hill bottoms out… plunging blissfully into the smell and shade of the cluster of “mimosas”…
Then getting up to do it again…
Wonderful summer, full of hints of bliss!
